How to Cope With Anxiety

Here are ways to help you cope with anxiety and reduce tension within the mind. You can also practice these self care methods to aid in anxiety reduction.

1. Breathe deeply
Breathing deeply helps calm down your body and mind. When you feel anxious, take deep breaths and focus on your breath. Focus on how your lungs expand and contract while breathing. You may want to count each time you breathe out and then slowly inhale again. Try to do this at least three times per day.
2. Exercise
Exercise releases endorphins, chemicals in our brain that make us happy. If you have anxiety, exercise can help you release those chemicals and reduce your symptoms. Exercise also increases blood flow to your brain, helping to clear away any toxins and increase oxygen levels. You can follow MADFIT On Youtube to brush up on your exercise skills.
3. Meditate
Meditation is a great way to relax your mind and body. Meditation techniques can help you learn to control your thoughts and emotions. Try sitting quietly and focusing on your breathing. Take slow, deep breaths in and out. As you exhale, think about relaxing your muscles. Think about letting go of tension in your neck, shoulders, arms, legs, and feet. Imagine your body becoming lighter and lighter as you let go of tension.
4. Eat well
Eating well can help you cope with anxiety. Eating nutritious foods can give you energy and keep you feeling full. Foods high in protein, fiber, and vitamins can help you feel good. Avoid eating junk food and sugary treats.
5. Get enough sleep
Sleep is important for your mental health. Sleep deprivation causes anxiety, depression, and irritability. Make sure you get adequate sleep every night. Try not to stay up late watching TV or playing video games.
6. Talk to someone
Talking to someone who understands what you’re going through can help you cope with your anxiety. Talking to a friend or family member can help you express yourself and share your feelings. A therapist can also help you work through issues related to anxiety.
7. Keep busy
If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed, try keeping busy. Do something fun or productive. Go outside and enjoy nature. Play sports or engage in some physical activity. Read a book or watch a movie.
